Crazy Ones is a “one of a kind” bishojo game, out now on mobile

- Crazy Ones is a new male-centric otomo release that’s out now
- It combines turn-based battles with narrative-based dating gameplay
- Four distinct characters with different personalities revolve around the player
When it comes to the term one-of-a-kind I think it’s a bit of a loaded phrase. I prefer the idea that everything is different in its own subtle ways. But at the same time, the fact that Crazy Ones was billed to us as the first male-centric, turn-based otome game was enough to give me pause.
If you’re a little confused, I don’t blame you. With a name drawn from Steve Jobs’ quote “Here’s to the Crazy Ones”, the titular release sees you playing a male character drawn into the high-octane world of big business. Naturally, there’s romance and drama galore as he’s also set to date four distinctive ladies in the course of his adventures.
That includes Hakuo the reliable HR manager, Hyouka Natsume the tsundere president of rival Natsume Technology Group, aspiring musician Chika Ono and Tomoko, the main character’s protege. All of this is combined with turn-based battles utilising cards based on the main character’s memories.
Driving me crazy
Now there’s a lot I could say about the fact that Crazy Ones is selling itself on the emotional connection between the player and the fictional girlfriends, rather than simple fanservice. And I could lament the fact that with a name like that, it’s ripe for some kind of unexpected narrative twist, but equally, I’ll give credit where it’s due that Crazy Ones looks like a decent visual novel-type release for fans of the genre.
Certainl,y though, I have my reservations, the idea that simultaneous romances is considered a selling point makes me just a little bit dubious. But if you want to see what it’s got in store for yourself you can find Crazy ones on the iOS App Store and Google Play right now!
