Rookidee makes its debut in Pokémon Go as part of Jan. 2025’s “Steeled Resolve” event.

The Gen 8 flying-type can evolve into Corvisquire and then Corviknight as part of its evolution line, provided you have enough candy.

Similar to many recent new Pokémon in Pokémon Go, Rookidee cannot be found in the wild — but the good news is there’s one of four ways to add one to your Pokédex.

How to get Rookidee in Pokémon Go

Making its first appearance in 2025’s “Steeled Resolve” event, on its debut Rookidee can be found:

  • By hatching 2km eggs
  • Using a Magnetic Lure
  • In Go Battle League rewards
  • In the “Steeled Resolve” Premium Timed Research Ticket

The option that’s open to all players is hatching 2km eggs, which can found by spinning PokéStops (alongside 5km and 10km eggs — meaning there’s only a chance you may get the 2km variant).

Magnetic Lures can be purchased from the shop for 180 PokéCoins. That said, it’s been an uncommon reward across the game’s many activities and quests for a while now, and chances are you’ll already have one in your inventory — so check your item bag before you spend those PokéCoins.

Elsewhere, playing Go Battle League can see Rookidee as a possible encounter in as low as the rank 1 reward track, but like egg pools, it’s only a chance it’ll appear this way, making it likely one of the more time intensive options.

Ultimately, if you want a guaranteed Rookidee encounter, then purchasing the $5 Premium Timed Research Ticket for the “Steeled Resolve” event and completing the first step, “Power Up Pokémon 5 times” is the way to go — especially as Pokémon caught in research have an higher IV floor (meaning likely to have better stats) than most other encounters.

To get Corisquire and Corviknight in Pokémon Go, you must evolve Rookidee with 25 then 100 candy.

With Rookidee being tricky to source, at least on its debut, making use of Pinap Berries and and having an active flying-type Mega Evolution to give you extra Rookidee candy is highly recommended. Don’t forget you can always earn candy by having Rookidee as your buddy Pokémon — it has just a 1km distance requirement while walking, making this a viable option — with the added bonus of showing it off to all your friends when you trade gifts back and forth.

And, remember you can always spend Rare Candy to get the required candy (125 total) to complete the evolution chain, though we’d always advice saving that for the hardest-to-find Pokémon, such as legendary or mythic Pokémon.

Can Rookidee be shiny in in Pokémon Go?

On its debut, Rookidee cannot be shiny in Pokémon Go. There’s no sign when we’ll see a shiny version, and based on previous shiny releases, it can be a while — usually years — before they happen.

You can, however, see what shiny Rookidee looks like thanks to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and this video from MarkjurAnime on YouTube.
