How to unlock the Chatterwhite shader in Destiny 2

The beloved Chatterwhite shader — an all-white shader — has finally come to Destiny 2 after years of fan requests. The shader comes from the original Destiny, and was a reward for killing Atheon, the series’ first raid boss.

In this Destiny 2 guide, we’ll walk you through how to unlock the Chatterwhite shader during the Past is Prologue Bento Box event.

Note: The Past is Prologue event only runs through Feb. 4, when the Heresy episode launches in-game. While the shader could come back in the future, make sure you move quickly if you want to pick it up before it expires.

How to unlock the Chatterwhite shader in Destiny 2

To unlock the Chatterwhite shader in Destiny 2, first you need to pick up the “Packed Lunch” quest from the Drifter in the Tower. To complete this quest, you’ll need to “complete five Bento Boxes.” However, there are only four Bento Box quests available as of this writing, so you can’t get the Chatterwhite shader just yet.

As for what Bento Boxes are, these are little quests Drifter offers which will give you special Bento Tokens. You can then take these tokens to Eris on the moon for some great rewards. The quest objectives range from killing some dungeon/raid bosses to just doing activities on the Moon.

When will the Chatterwhite shader be available in Destiny 2?

More Bento Box quests will arrive in-game on Friday, Jan. 24, with Xur in the Tower. An in-game message also promised more Bento Box quests in the last week of the event, so expect another batch on Tuesday, Jan. 28.

You’ll be able to unlock the Chatterwhite shader by completing one of Xur’s Bento Box quests on Friday — assuming you complete The Stuff of Legends, Martial Mementos, A Dubious Bento, and Nightmare Lunch as well.
