No, we’re not joking. Michael Bolton. The singer.

  • Clash Royale has teamed up with Michael Bolton
  • Yes, that Michael Bolton, the singer
  • And now the Barbarian has become… the Boltarian

First came Erling Haaland in Clash of Clans, then Gordon Ramsay in Hay Day, and in their latest attempt to confound and surprise us the folks at Supercell have embarked on their most bizarre celebrity collaboration yet for Clash Royale. Michael Bolton (yes, that Michael Bolton) has released a special music video where he partners with the iconic Barbarian character for a new rendition of his hit love song How Am I Supposed to Live Without You.

Not only does this collaboration come with a new music video, made out specifically to players who have lapsed from Clash Royale, but the Barbarian himself also sports a new mullet and handlebar moustache in his role as the (I can’t believe I’m writing this) Barboltian.

And no, this isn’t just a parody music video, you’ll also be able to listen to How Am I Supposed to Live Without You on a music streaming service near you! Sadly, no news (yet) on a rewards campaign to bring in lapsed players, so the folks at Supercell are seemingly hoping the golden vocal chords of the Barboltian are enough to bring them in.

Sing to win ’em over

Alright, (somewhat) humorous and farcical shock over. Certainly, I was genuinely surprised to see Bolton take up such a collab but given the huge names that Supercell has brought on board to promote its top releases over the last year or so, I suppose this shouldn’t really shock me.

At the same time as cute as it is I’m not sure a parody music video will do much to bring in lapsed players. So hopefully we might see some sort of return campaign or other in-game promotion that’ll really nab the more hard-hearted of you out there.

In the meantime if this has drawn you back into Clash Royale don’t go in unprepared, be sure to check out our constantly updated tier list to see where all the cards are ranked!
