  • The remake is set to arrive on March 7th
  • It’s sporting a new, more colourful look than the original
  • There is also new content to tackle with bigger dungeons and additional bosses

If you’re a long-time mobile gamer, you might remember a delightful retro-styled Metroidvania that was released around 10 years ago called Tiny Dangerous Dungeons. Well, now it’s coming back as Tiny Dangerous Dungeons Remake because, well, it’s been remade. Surprise!

Don’t worry if you’re already getting that nostalgic itch, either. You won’t have to wait too long. Tiny Dangerous Dungeons Remake releases for iOS and Android on March 7th, with pre-registration open now if you’re like me and struggle with keeping dates in your brain but want to enjoy this little gem when it drops.

Harry Slater reviewed the original when it launched back in 2015, awarding it a 4-star score. He praised it for feeling fresh while providing those warm fuzzy feelings Game Boy fans still secretly crave. However, it appears that has changed slightly with the remake. Gone are the sepia tones, now replaced with a splash of more colour. It still looks decidedly old school but is much less reminiscent of the GB specifically now.

A whole new world

That’s not a bad thing, of course. Personally, I prefer the more colourful aesthetic. It still gives me those nostalgic pangs while being more interesting to look at than before. The facelift isn’t the only change it has received, though.

Developer Jussi Simpanen has also added a completely new soundtrack and improved the physics, which hopefully quashes a few of the minor gripes Mr Slater had with the original release. There’s also new content to enjoy, with the titular dungeon now twice as large as before and packing five additional bosses. Beyond that, expect a few new secrets, but the developer isn’t going to give those away yet, are they?

Tiny Dangerous Dungeons Remake is available to pre-order on the App Store and Google Play ahead of its upcoming March 7th launch. It’ll be a premium experience that costs $3.99 or your local equivalent. You can pre-register on your preferred platform using the buttons below.
