  • Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon is finally getting a wide scale release
  • It’s set to hit iOS and Android later this year
  • Chronos Dungeon is set 200 years after the second game and features roguelite co-op elements

The top-down dungeon crawler is a genre that gets plenty of love, and for good reason. There are few as exciting and visceral as chopping and hacking your way through hordes of enemies, be that in vibrant technicolour or grim and gritty mudcore. Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon set out to reinvent the titular franchise with the former (and a dusting of the latter).

But you probably already know about it, of course, as this crunchy pixellated rogueliite has been a perennial presence on Apple Arcade. So why should you care? Well, the wait (and exclusivity) is over as Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon is now set to arrive on mobile proper and Steam later this year.

Supporting co-op for up to four players, and the ability to switch your class on the fly, Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon takes you deep into the titular labyrinth to uncover the Paradigm Hourglass and perhaps a way to alter the fractured world you find yourself in.

Crunchatise me

With its 16-bit pixel style and randomised dungeons, Oceanhorn feels like much more of a throwback to Zelda than its predecessors did. And even a few years after release it holds up well visually, probably because of the timeless nature of the visuals.

And even better for fans, judging by the trailer it seems as if the widespread release of Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon will be the Golden Edition that was released for Apple Arcade way back in 2022. Featuring an additional town, NPCs and other additions it means we can expect a definitive experience when Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon does arrive.
