Hey there, welcome to our latest edition of The Wrapp.

This is a chance for you to see what the various members of the Pocket Gamer team are planning to play over this weekend and will, hopefully, give you an idea of some of the weird and wonderful things we get up to when we’re not keeping you up to speed with the latest news and tips. Heck, you might even find a new game to play.

Oh wow, first in the Wrapp roster?! What omen is this?! Hopefully, it doesn’t affect my free time too much because I’d like to dive into more itch categories since we may or may not be entering/leaving Game Jam season. Then again, I’ll probably spend more time with Solo Leveling: Arise if I can stop it from crashing every few minutes. If not, then there’s just more time to play Crashlands 2 while I work on my review.

Also, this Maono mic is shaping up to be an interesting replacement for my current mic. It just passed the podcast test, and now I’ve got to take it for a recording test. It’s time to voice-over some animations!

I’ve got two lovely little games lined up on my phone for the weekend – Disney Magic Match 3D and Timelie, both of which I’m planning to feature on Ahead of the Game. Honestly, there’s not much to say about them since I’ve yet to dive in, but suffice it to say I’m excited to string my Disney faves together across a grid while simultaneously leaping through time with a little girl and a mysterious cat at the same time.

Also, did Will just beat me to The Wrapp this week? I shall not stand for this!

This weekend I’m planning on wrapping up my playthrough of ENA: Dream BBQ. I’d never come across the ENA series before this launched a few days ago, so the psychedelic Satoshi Kon-esque hellscape it’s set in is maybe even more jarring and trippy for me than it is for the acquainted. I’m hoping that going into it knowing as little background info as possible will be part of the fun.

However, hearing about it also made me realise that Newgrounds still exists – which I spent a lot of the 2000s trawling – so maybe I’ll just fall into playing a bunch of web games like Hatsune Miku Bomb Squad! instead.

After finishing strong last week with a wonderful book (and not a lot of gaming), I am prepared to up my game this weekend with some Path of Exile! It is finally releasing, so I’m thrilled to dive into that.

On the mobile aspect of games, a new Teamfight Tactics set also just released, so I am hoping I have time to play everything! I was super excited for both, but I honestly didn’t expect them to release around the same time. Oh well, white nights here I come!

I, unfortunately, didn’t have as much time as I would have liked lately to game, between having to actually do holiday things and a busy month end. This weekend is looking to be a lot smoother, so I shall be continuing my delve into Xenoblade Chronicles X. It is as magical as I remembered, and I just last night unlocked flight. Or rather, very early this morning. Don’t judge me.

On the mobile front, I have actually started trying ranked battles on Pokemon TCG Pocket, thanks to the release of Lucario ex, the best of Pokemon. Sadly, it seems I am relegated to bot territory for now, which is probably just as well. I had a few games with Stephen the other day, I did not perform well. Vengeance will be mine!

I can confirm I did, in fact, defeat Shaun in a best-of-three battle of (dim)wits in Pokemon TCG Pocket. However, I owe my victory to being an ardent follower of the current meta rather than possessing any actual skill. As such, I shall also dip my toes into the ranked world this week. After all, you get additional Hourglasses based on where you finish, which means I can open more packs, and that’s all any of us want, right?

Beyond that, I’m tempted to dip into Grand Mountain Adventure 2 after reading the thoughts of our App Army. Not only have they sold it to me, it’s starting to warm up here in the UK, and that makes me sad. I love the colder weather, so I hope hitting the virtual slopes will bring back those icy chills I crave.

I think I’ve finally made peace with the fact I need a new phone. My old S20 is showing its age, and with stuff like Songs of Conquest available it’s about time I started shopping around for something with a bit more power. At the same time, I’ve been dipping into Super Meat Boy Forever more than a bit, and still have my calendar marked for when Castle v Castle arrives.

This weekend is full of Minecraft experiences for myself and my family, not least because the (no doubt questionable) film is in theatres. That means that Minecraft will likely be cracked out at least once.

Outside of that, I’ll be continuing my TCG Pocket Deck Completion quest (Only eight left from the new pack and three from Time & Space) which is being helped along by the new Sneak Peek system that’s in there. Bumping the odds from 20% to 25% might not look like much, but it really helps.

I’ve been loving Gordian Quest’s roguelike, run-based mode, so I’ll likely sink another dozen hours into that. I also discovered I still have Monster Train downloaded, and with the sequel coming soon, that’ll likely cycle around into play. After all, it can certainly feel like the whole world is on a high-speed train to hell, so why not have a little fun with it?
