Another day, another upcoming release! But this time it’s something a bit different as MMORPG Athena: Blood Twins joins the glut of recent arrivals here in the West. Boasting 10 million downloads over in Asia, the hope seems to be that this dark fantasy RPG will capture the attention of Western players in a similar way as it’s set for a May 15th release.
While something like Odin: Valhalla Rising offers us a darker take on Norse mythology, Athena: Blood Twins takes a different take. In a world of shattered mythology based on ancient Greece, the goddess Athena is split into two halves of chaos and order. With you, as the player, stepping in to lead them.
As you might expect Athena: Blood Twins boasts a variety of classes to pick from with the Warrior, Mage, Archer and Cleric. You’ll be able to pick advanced classes further down the line, mix and match your own combos and customise your character with a variety of cosmetics.
Stand out or stand down?
All of this sounds quite good, but I couldn’t help but notice that Athena was a little cagey with showing us actual gameplay. After a bit of digging, I was able to find some and discovered that this is a perfectly fine-looking isometric MMORPG. Not exactly world-shaking, but just so you’re aware of what you’re getting into.
Still, if that all sounds good to you, then pre-registering will grant you the SSR Hero Hero Devil Athena and 2,000 summons when Athena: Blood Twins launches properly.
