Pokémon Unite’s India Qualifiers wrap with S8UL set to represent the country at the WCS finals

- Pokémon Unite’s World Championship Series is heating up as S8UL qualify to represent India
- The team has clawed their way back to the top after a disappointing Asia Champions League performance
- Now, they’ll head to the US this August to compete in the WCS Finals
Big day for esports it seems, as not only is PUBG Mobile seeing the arrival of its PMGO finals later this week, but Pokémon Unite’s esports scene is also heating up! That’s because S8UL are set to represent India at the World Championship series with the conclusion of their local Qualifiers.
The result will be especially vindicating for S8UL, as the team suffered from lacking performance during the Pokémon Unite Asia Champions League where they dropped out early and didn’t qualify for the ACL competition. Now, however, the team will be headed to the WCS finals in the USA this August.
The India Qualifiers certainly weren’t short on drama however, as S8UL would lose their opening match, forcing them to compete from a lower bracket that made the climb even steeper. But by the end of the Qualifiers they had run roughshot over Team Dynamis, QML and familiar competitors Revenant XSpark.
Championship Performance
This kind of success isn’t exactly unprecedented for S8UL as the team were also represent India in the 2024 WCS. However, tragically the team were unable to compete due to issues acquiring visas for the competition in Honolulu before the event commenced.
At a time when cross-border travel into the US is quite a sticky situation, I’m sure this possibility remains on the mind of the team. But ideally, we won’t see it occur again and the folks at S8UL will be able to make their mark on the world stage at the WCS 2025 finals this summer.
