Kingdomino, the digital adaptation of Bruno Cathala & Blue Orange Games’ hit tabletop classic, is set to arrive on Android and iOS on June 26th. Pre-registration is now open, with exclusive launch bonuses promised for those getting into the kingdom-building fun early.
As far as I’m concerned, Kingdomino is one of my more anticipated releases. Sometimes it’s hard to make board game adaptations different to the original, with many opting to keep as close as possible to the established mechanics. But Kingdomino looks set to do so with aplomb as it translates the original into a fully 3D release.
The objective is simple, craft interconnected territories branching out from your castle to score points. But that fields of waving wheat, lush forests or vibrant coastal fisheries, you need to connect your domino-esque tiles to score as many points as possible. In short 10-15 minute sessions, you’ll need to build a kingdom that can stand the test of time.

I think what makes Kingdomino stand out from the original is that it uses the digital platform to its utmost. Tiles are animated with NPCs milling around and going about their day, letting you not only enjoy the strategic fun of putting together your kingdom but also see it grow and flourish in the process.
Features-wise, Kingdomino also comes with a solid starting line upon release. You can compete against friends, or AI or use global matchmaking to compete (with cross-platform play). Offline play, interactive tutorials and other welcome quality-of-life features also come as standard.
Think that Kingdomino isn’t enough of a challenge? Want to take on some truly neuron-twisting trials to push your brain to the limit? Well, why not take on some of the picks we’ve made for our definitive, curated list of the top 25 best puzzle games on iOS and Android?
