When it comes to getting people out of the house, Niantic’s AR catalogue always manages to find strange and interesting new ways to get players on their feet. But, I admit the strangest yet might be the newest Pikmin Bloom update, which tasks you with visiting your nearest Italian restaurant!
No, this isn’t some sort of underhanded way of getting people to eat out. Instead, Pikmin Bloom is introducing a new version of the titular Pikmin in the form of the Pasta Decor Pikmin. You can pick up new seedlings for these Pikmin at local Italian eateries near where you live.
These new Pikmin will come dressed in all manner of pasta, both familiar and unusual to us lovers of Italian cuisine. And while it may be an exceedingly odd way to get people back in, I’ve no doubt it’ll be effective.
Boy, this stuff is good
Admittedly, I think it’ll be effective solely because of how weird it is. But at the same time, I am a little confused as to how something like this came about. I expect that if they’re not annoyed by crowds appearing on their sidewalk, the owners of these eateries will welcome the additional footfall.
Of course, you’ll need to update your app in order to spot these additional Pikmin. But I’d say that’s a small price to pay for some pasta perfection, wouldn’t you? So get out there and find those seedlings!
