JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is officially coming back for another season. Considering the series’ massive popularity, it’s not exactly a surprise that the anime is set to return, but the confirmation is always nice. The new season, which will be the sixth of the anime so far, doesn’t have a release date yet, but the announcement did come with a short trailer.

While the trailer only gave us the year the story takes place and a couple of character visuals, we do know what the story will be about thanks to the manga version, which was first released in 2004. The new season will be adapting the seventh JoJo’s manga arc, Steel Ball Run. While recent seasons have mostly stuck to the same group of characters for each season, this latest story will take things in a very different direction. Argued by many as the best arc of the entire series, Steel Ball Run takes place in 1890 and follows numerous brand-new characters as they compete in the Steel Ball Run, a horse race that runs from San Diego to New York City. Of course, this being Jojo’s, the race also includes Stands, secret plots, colorful characters, excellent outfits, and a whole lot of surprises.

For fans that want to get a head start on the action, Viz Media will re-release the first volume of Steel Ball Run in print and digital on May 27.

While there isn’t an official release date for the season just yet, we can look back for a clue to when it might be released. For instance, the last season of the show, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean, was announced on April 5, 2021, and was released later that year in December. That certainly seems like it could be the timeline for this season as well, but we’ll have to wait for a larger announcement to know for sure.
