  • Final Fantasy XIV is slated for a potential mid-summer release
  • August 29th is the date provided on a recent Chinese iOS listing
  • FFXIV Mobile has been in consideration for a while, and hype is building

Final Fantasy XIV Mobile sees the hit MMORPG, which originally appeared to be a disaster for Square Enix before dramatically rising from the ashes into an incredibly strong MMO, is an unsurprisingly highly-anticipated when it comes to a mobile version. Now, according to a recent listing on the Chinese iOS App Store, we could be seeing Final Fantasy XIV releasing as soon as August 29th.

Final Fantasy XIV initially released back in 2010 to nearly universal negative reviews. The reception was so disastrous that Square Enix pulled the MMORPG and focused the team on a huge overhaul of it virtually from the ground up. What came out after was the now critically-acclaimed Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

FF XIV has proven to remain popular with players, thanks in no small part to constant expansions and updates. So a mobile release is unsurprisingly exciting for fans, such as our own Shaun Walton who broke down everything we know about the mobile release of Final Fantasy XIV so far.

Limit Break

The question of just how feature complete Final Fantasy XIV will be when it reaches the hands of players is on everyone’s minds. But I think outside of that a late August release date sounds eminently plausible, although given Tencent’s Lightspeed is handling the port an earlier release date for Chinese players isn’t out of the question either.

Certainly I would expect a global release not long after, according to a recent interview with series alumni Naoki Yoshida, Final Fantasy XIV Mobile is not a recent consideration. Either way though, I think we can all look forward to a port with a lot of polish and love put into it, judging by the pomp and circumstance with which this is being presented.
