- Prince of Persia: Lost Crown is out now on iOS and Android
- It features new mobile-specific mechanics and more
- Conquer Mount Qaf and save the prince as time-bending hero Sargon
Prince of Persia fans, rejoice! Because Ubisoft’s 2.5D spinoff of the series is out now on iOS and Android – and, Free-to-try to boot. We’ve already got a review in the works to tell you what exactly we think of it. But in the meantime, what’s it got to offer for mobile players?
Well, as you might expect Prince of Persia takes you back into the fantastical past, with an action-packed take on middle-eastern myth and legend. You play as the hero Sargon, sent to retrieve Prince Ghassan from the mystical Mount Qaf, the home of the gods that is now saturated with evil.
Much like the first entries in the series, Prince of Persia: Lost Crown is focused on side-scrolling platforming. And with the addition of all manner of combo-stringing attacks you’ll be challenged to navigate increasingly complex and dangerous levels using both your wits and abilities.
Made for mobile
Naturally though, if you’re even tangentially familiar with this most-recent release you probably already know all this. But this new release also promises to be revamped and redesigned especially for mobile.
It features a redesigned interface to support touch controls, support for controllers, and a variety of optional quality-of-life features such as automatic modes to help you out.
While some may balk about how this interferes with the intended difficulty of Prince of Persia: Lost Crown, by my reckoning it’s probably necessary for those not using controllers. But, again, stay tuned because we’re going to be digging in deep to see whether Prince of Persia: Lost Crown holds up or thrives on mobile.
