5 new mobile games to try this week – April 17th, 2025

1
The Bird Game
Available on: iOS + Android
Is there anything more relaxing than soaring through the skies without a care in the world? The aptly titled Bird Game will have you flapping, diving, and gliding your way through the rainforest as a happy little bird living his best life. You’ll collect resources to earn upgrades to your flying style, and you can even hatch your own birds with different looks and traits just because.
It’s not all sunshine and butterflies here though, because, much like in real life, thunderstorms and tornadoes can ruin a perfectly good day every now and then. That shouldn’t stop you from powering through and collecting seeds to keep upgrading and going the distance, all throughout infinite levels and eight lovely little environments.
2
Prison Gang Wars
Available on: iOS + Android

From freedom and flight, we turn to what it’s like to live a life of incarceration in Prison Gang Wars, which, as you might expect, is exactly what it says on the tin. Authentic, strategic, and with a little bit of GTA-esque elements thrown into the mix, this tactical romp through prison life will have you navigating treacherous terrain behind bars, whether you’re smuggling goods and dealing with rival gangs or trying to befriend the guards for your own personal gain.
Bribery aside, you can also collect debts, build your reputation, and handle contraband on your road to becoming the yard boss. You’ll need to learn how to manage conflicts and build loyalty among your crew, as every choice you make will have lasting consequences throughout your territory. Can you lead your crew to dominate the entire prison, or will you become just another prisoner no one will ever remember?
3
Prince of Persia: Lost Crown
Developer: Ubisoft Montpellier
Publisher: Ubisoft
Available on: iOS + Android

This side-scrolling platformer will test your Time Powers and combo-stringing abilities as you run, dodge, and leap through dangerous ravines to save Prince Ghassan across the cursed ancient city of gods.
Prince of Persia: Lost Crown features mobile-optimised features such as intuitive touch controls and custom remapping, but with external controller support too just in case. The automatic modes should also make combat and platforming a bit more convenient for you, with handy auto-potion and auto-parry elements so you can focus on saving the world.
4
TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge
Available on: iOS + Android

Get ready for some Saturday morning cartoon feels with TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, a lovely retro-inspired homage to arcade classics featuring everyone’s favourite heroes in a half-shell. This colourful beat ’em up will have you playing as Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo and their friends as you smash through Krang and Shredder’s plans across more than a dozen levels.
The mobile version offers the Dimension Shellshock and the Radical Reptiles DLCs as well. Rounding out the retro feels is the soundtrack crafted by Tee Lopes, so you can truly turn back time to the 80s for some cool Cowabunga carnage!
5
The Star Named EOS
Developer: Silver Lining Studio
Available on: iOS + Android + Steam

A picture is indeed worth a thousand words in The Star Named EOS, an evocative point-and-click puzzler that’s made the jump to mobile thanks to the Crunchyroll Game Vault.
The lovely Ghibli-esque visuals and evocative soundtrack add to the feels here, with intuitive mobile controls and photo-based puzzlers that are challenging yet cosy at the same time. As you uncover the mystery of your mother’s disappearance, you’ll piece together remnants of photos she left behind, all while unravelling the mystery of your own past along the way. Get ready for some cathartic tears, by the way, as this one’s a bona fide tearjerker.
