Clash of Clans to receive its own tabletop adaptation, its Kickstarter going live soon

- Clash of Clans is set to receive its own tabletop adaptation
- Supercell and Maestro Media will team for the new release
- A Kickstarter is set to go live later this month
Clash of Clans expansion into the multimedia world is set to take a bold next step, as Supercell and Maestro Media are teaming up to produce an official tabletop adaptation of the hit mobile strategy release called Clash of Clans: The Epic Raid. A Kickstarter campaign is set to go live sometime this month, where fans can sign up for early pledge rewards like an exclusive miniature of the iconic Golden Barbarian King.
For longtime tabletop fanatics, Maestro Media will be instantly recognisable as the team behind Hello Kitty: Day at the Park and The Binding of Isaac: Four Souls. More than that, designers Eric M. Lang and Ken Gruhl are also on board, having worked Star Wars: The Card Game, XCOM: The Board Game and more.
That latter example probably has a lot of bearing on what we can expect from the upcoming tabletop adaptation of Clash of Clans. XCOM: The Board Game adaptation saw fans making use of an exclusive app to manage random events and alien actions, something which wouldn’t be out of place for Clash either.
Clash on the tabletop
The Clash push into multimedia is not unprecedented of course, whether it’s their spate of collabs that include top entertainment companies such as the WWE, or the reported early stages of film development, a board game is a surprisingly small next step but significant nonetheless.
I think the majority of us will be looking at how they manage to translate the feeling of Clash of clans into mobile of course. Will it be slavishly devoted to the original mechanics? Innovate and experiment? Or do something wholly unexpected? We’ll have to wait and see.
