Reverse: 1999 to reveal new details of 1.5th anniversary and version 2.5 in upcoming livestream

- A new livestream for Reverse: 1999 will show off upcoming content on April 18th
- The stream will showcase content for version 2.5 ‘Showdown in Chinatown’
- Expect additional details for the upcoming 1.5th anniversary to boot!
Fans of hit time-twisting RPG Reverse: 1999 can look forward both to new 1.5th anniversary content and a glimpse of version 2.5 in an upcoming livestream hosted April 18th. This livestream will be the first time we get a solid look at what’s in store for the upcoming update, titled ‘Showdown in Chinatown’.
Naturally, the livestream is set to be hosted in-character by Captain Regulus and an upcoming character called Officer Liang Yue, in chibi form. The livestream will also feature giveaways of codes and a competition to win a Nintendo Switch 2 for viewers.
Of course, given that version 2.5 has already been showcased extensively for Chinese players, there’s plenty we already know ahead of time. Such as the fact that Showdown in Chinatown is set to be a homage to Hong Kong martial arts movies, with a suitably dramatic crime thriller narrative related to capturing an arcanist vigilante.
Script doctoring
Character-wise it looks as if Officer Liang Yue, who wields a variety of martial-arts moves, will be infiltrating the movie set of another new character, Noire. A wheelchair-bound, perfectionist director, Noire’s special moves involve her literally puppetting her ideal actors to take on enemies. Finally, we know that an additional character Loggerhead, who’s head is a camera (yes, really) is also set to make an appearance.
Although we’ll have to wait for the livestream to know just how much of this specifically will be appearing for international versions of Reverse: 1999, I’ve no doubt there’ll be plenty of great shoutouts to fans of the Shaw Brothers and John Woo in version 2.5.
