Seedsow Lullaby is a time-bending visual novel with an intriguing premise

Once this game hits 88mph…
- Seedsow Lullaby is a time-twisting visual novel
- High schooler Misuzu must team up with a younger version of her deceased mother, and her own future daughter
- The three must journey through a mythical landscape to conduct the Seedsow Ceremony, and usher in the rebirth of the gods
The visual novel world is one which is surprisingly underrpresented on mobile, with some exceptions like the Methods series. Be that because of ingrained bias against the genre on the part of western gamers, or just lack of interest from publishers of a traditionally PC-focused genre. But Seedsow Lullaby looks set to defy that trend when it releases May 1st on iOS and Android.
Seedsow Lullaby is initially a baffling release. As it sells itself on being a visual novel with no choices or branching path. “But wait-,” you might say, “-isn’t that the whole point of a visual novel?!” Well, yes and no, because Seedsow Lullaby’s core premise may be intriguing enough to make up for that.
In Seedsow Lullaby, Misuzu lost her mother at a young age. But on her sixteenth birthday she’s suddenly approached by a woman claiming to be her mother, also at age sixteen. Misuzu, it seems, is supposed to help conduct the Seedsow Ceremony to usher in the rebirth of the gods, and it appears that she’ll also need the help of her own daughter, drawn from the future, to complete her mission.
Live, die, repeat
Now, time travel in the visual novel genre is by no means unusual. Steins; Gate for example, is an iconic genre-definer famous for its use of alternative timelines and branching narratives. But Seedsow Lullaby looks set to offer a more straightforward take on the concept.
While that may be offputting for some I’ve no doubt that grappling with the question of life, death and the certainty of the future will make for an interesting plotline. So keep your eyes peeled for an international release of Seedsow Lullaby soon.
