The match-three genre is, it’s fair to say, overwhelmingly known for being casual. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as there’s no better way to unwind than with some simple match-three puzzles. But what if you want a faster-paced experience that’ll still test your puzzle-solving skills? Well, that’s where Match 3 Racing comes in!

Arriving from Greek developer Gameaki, Match 3 Racing is a space racer that sees you taking on the role of a pilot in the Parapolice Agency. Your job? Chase down space criminals in your own starship. But these dastardly villains are a lot faster than you, which is where the match-three elements come in.

You’ll need to carefully string together combinations of coloured stars, with three of the same type giving you a massive speed boost. Of course, you’ll also need to be dodging meteors and other obstacles while doing so in order to keep up the pace!

While Match 3 Racing does appear to have somewhat wonky dialogue in places, overall, the gameplay is an ingenious twist on the usual format. It may not draw in seasoned veterans of either the space racer or match-three world, but it may appeal to those looking for a fast-paced and exciting synthesis of the two.
