  • UnGodly promises a visceral experience in both emotional and gameplay terms

It’s always exciting to see developers branch out into new genres, and for Azra Games, it’s most definitely the case. Founded by Mark Otero, who was a key member of the team behind Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, the studio’s debut project, UnGodly, most definitely stands apart from a galaxy far, far away.

UnGodly is still in development, and what little has been revealed so far is mainly the concepts behind it. This is a decidedly dark fantasy RPG set in a brutal world of sword and sorcery. With the world pulled into ruin by a mysterious force, your heroes will stand alone.

Well, not totally alone, as they’ll have to rely very much on each other. In combat, you’ll have to make split-second real-time strategy decisions, while outside of that, your party members will grow emotional connections via the Affinity System that can unlock entire storylines between them.

Dark and darkest

UnGodly certainly doesn’t sound like it’s for the faint of heart, and Azra Games promises a highly visceral experience, both emotionally and gameplay-wise. For those looking to experience a more action-driven RPG experience than Galaxy of Heroes, and a much more distinct universe, this will certainly be interesting.

The dark fantasy genre has certainly become more and more diverse over the years, with dozens, if not hundreds, of RPGs attempting to translate the flavour of inspirations such as Berserk and Game of Thrones to mobile. UnGodly is set for a winter 2025 release, with a full reveal set for this fall, which will offer us a full look at what’s in store.

But if you need something to tide you over ahead of UnGodly’s full reveal and release, why not dig into our list of the top 25 best RPGs for iOS and Android to find everything from more casual arcade action to grim, gritty and perilous fantasy adventures!
