Dungeon Hiker tasks you with getting out of a deep dungeon without starving to death

- Dungeon Hiker is an upcoming 3D dungeon crawler
- Explore and (hopefully) escape from a dungeon
- Manage your hunger and thirst
Ever since the days of Ultima Underworld, the humble dungeon has gone from the usual setting for a TTRPG to a vast and sprawling, cavernous world full of mystery and adventure. Little surprise then that we still see releases like the upcoming Dungeon Hiker, which promise to let you relive that same experience.
The concept behind Dungeon Hiker is simple: you find yourself trapped inside a mysterious dungeon and must make your way out. In between you and freedom are tunnels, monsters, traps and other obstacles that you have to bypass. You’ll uncover branching paths and multiple endings as you make your way through a deep (pun not intended) story.
But it’s not just physical barriers you need to worry about. Alongside keeping track of your HP, you’ll also be tasked with keeping track of and topping up your hunger, thirst and fatigue bars. You are, after all, trapped deep underground, and food isn’t exactly easy to come by in a dungeon!
Dungeoneering
Outside of that, Dungeon Hiker functions as you might expect from a first-person dungeon crawler. Using a card battler format, you’ll need to collect materials to create new skill cards and equipment that help you contend with the monsters infesting this dungeon.
Coming to us from developer Nekosuko, Dungeon Hiker has an intriguing premise. However, Nekosuko’s previous output does seem to lean more into the budget end of things. But, with Dungeon Hiker set to release July 20th, hopefully we’ll see them put their best foot forward and release something which takes advantage of this setting and concept!
