  • Suikoden Star Leap has released a new story trailer
  • It shows off some hints at what we can expect, but it’s sadly only available in Japanese
  • But Konami’s own synopsis helps offer context to the characters we see in this new trailer

Suikoden Star Leap, the upcoming mobile spin-off of the cult-classic Konami RPG series, has released a new story trailer. This new trailer gives fans a look at what they can expect when it comes to this currently Japan-exclusive prequel to the series.

Suikoden may need a little introduction for those of you not already aware of the history of this cult-classic JRPG series. While Square Enix has Final Fantasy, Konami had Suikoden. Taking you to a fantasy world and the vast, yet corrupt, Scarlet Moon Empire, it saw you turning from loyal soldier to rebel against this regime.

Unfortunately, since the new story trailer is in Japanese, there isn’t too much that can be gathered. Fortunately, though, Konami have their own synopsis, which reveals you can expect a story of revenge, intrigue and rebuilding as you and your friends seek to uncover the reason your home village was attacked and destroyed.

Leaps and bounds

The decision to release the Japanese story trailer on Konami’s official English language channel does offer some intriguing hints, however. Aside from glances at upcoming characters and their roles, as well as some hints at gameplay, we can also assume that Konami recognise the cult-hit status of their series in the West.

With that in mind, then, although Suikoden Star Leap is only planned to be a Japanese-exclusive release, we can assume that a Western and-slash-or global release is quite possible, if not already in the works behind the scenes at Konami.

But, if you can’t stand the waiting game to find out whether or not this is the case, why not check out some of our lists to give you ways to while away the time? Our regular feature of the top five new mobile games to try this week is now live to do just that!
