If you want to start playing Odin Valhalla Rising but you don’t know what class you should pick, don’t worry – that’s why we’re here. This guide will explain every single class in greater detail and help you pick the best class in Odin: Valhalla Rising, according to your play style.

What’s your play style?

Before we take a look at the classes, you need to decide what role you want to fill, and how you usually like to play RPGs – are you someone who likes to be in the centre of the action, hacking and slashing through enemies, or are you more laid-back? Do you like to deal damage, tank the enemies to keep your team safe, or do you prefer to cast curses and impede your enemies’ movements?

All of these play an important role in picking a class, because in Odin: Valhalla Rising, there are 4 main classes, and then each class has 2 subclasses. After you pick your main class, you will then be able to advance and pick a subclass. That’s going to determine your ultimate play style.

All Odin: Valhalla Rising classes

Below are all the classes in Odin: Valhalla Rising, along with the subclasses you can pick when going for that specific class:

  • Sorcerer (Subclasses: Archmage, Dark Wizard)
  • Warrior (Subclasses: Defender, Berserker)
  • Rogue (Subclasses: Sniper, Assassin)
  • Priest (Subclasses: Saint, Paladin)

I suggest you pick the best class according to your play style, and not based on how a character looks. Each character can be customised, but the skills/style cannot. If you want to have a character that you’ll enjoy playing for a long time, it’s best you pick something fairly easy and that won’t require you to feel forced to join a dungeon, just because.

You want a class that will feel natural, because let me tell you – the game is too beautiful to skip, or to enjoy through the lens of a character you don’t like playing.

You can always create multiple characters

If you do end up creating a character you don’t particularly enjoy, just go and make another one. You can also do that if you want to try out all the different classes, especially if it’s your first time playing an RPG.

Below, I delved a little deeper into each of the classes and explained which ones I consider to be the best for something specific:
