  • New Amalgam mode allows you to create your own beast
  • Two new preset beasts added
  • Lightning storms have been introduced

Just a couple of months after its April release, Eldermyth is shaking up its roguelike battlefield. The new 1.4 update introduces Amalgam Mode, which offers a twist on the formula that lets you piece together your own custom beast.

Of course, it’s not going to be that straightforward. The best powers come at a cost. The catch is that if you want to unlock the strongest powers, you’ll have to make your custom beast harder to play by giving it more difficult passive traits.

Alongside the new mode, you’ll also find two new preset beasts to master, the Void Howler and the Grief-bound Invader, each adding something fresh to the game’s already intricate puzzle of powers, land types, and weather cycles. Speaking of weather, lightning storms are now in the mix too, further complicating how beasts and invaders interact with the board.

If you haven’t heard, Eldermyth is a strategic high score chase. You play as ancient guardian creatures protecting a mythical land from invaders trying to mine, colonise, and displace. The board shifts with procedurally generated terrain, weather systems shape behaviour, and every beast has its own quirks. It’s turn-based, but don’t mistake it for leisurely, as every move demands forethought.

The update also brings a full UI overhaul and a cleaner high score screen, making it easier to track your progress across multiple runs. And if you’re someone who prefers to puzzle things out without a manual, Eldermyth keeps its mechanics intentionally opaque, though there’s an in-built guide if you’d rather cut to the chase.
