Light: Path of the Archmage brings wizardly whimsy to iOS later this year

- Adaptive gameplay system lets you shape your story and difficulty
- Explore seven floating islands filled with magical creatures and hidden realms
- Optional storyline tasks you with restoring a corrupted spellbook and unlocking the Guardians
After quietly building a following on PC, Light: Path of the Archmage is now making its way to iOS later this year. Developed by Sunshineshiny, this whimsical fantasy RPG combines old-school charm with a surprisingly adaptable experience, offering both cosy exploration and challenging adventure, depending entirely on how you decide to play.
At the heart of the journey is Academy Island, a floating campus where your story begins. You can try it out for free when the mobile version launches, and from there, your experience is entirely up to you. If you want to play it safe and soak in the scenery, you can stay cosy. Want chaos, spell-flinging, and some dramatic encounters? Turn up the Hostility Index and let the action unfold.
The world of Light adjusts according to four core systems: your starter character (which affects your spell list and attributes), the Hostility Index (which scales world difficulty), your chosen game mode (Cosy or Adventure), and your team composition (which influences interspecies relationships and battle tactics). A reactive world is so much more immersive than forcing a one-size-fits-all path.
You can also follow a pre-written quest if you prefer structure. The Magic Spellbook of the Archmage has been corrupted, and only seven key orbs can unlock the fairy dragon Guardians who can cleanse the darkness. But you’re free to ignore the urgency and just vibe. Brew potions, build up your item collection, fish a little, or discover and shelter tiny magical familiars. It’s your pace, your story.

Beyond the seven floating islands lie secret realms, lush forests, sun-bleached dunes, and a few eerie corners for those craving mystery. And if you ever want to test your skills, there’s even a public arena for light PvP.
