Marvel Snap debuts new web shop as Second Dinner set to self-publish

Marvel Snap has had a bit of a rough year thus far. Be that the sudden yanking of it from app stores in the wake of the TikTok ban, or the shift to a new publisher from Bytedance. Fortunately, those troubles seem to be over, and an all-new, all-different era is coming up, with Second Dinner now self-publishing and a new web shop available!
In terms of the change to self-publishing, it really doesn’t change much for fans and players. For us, it just means a name switching on paper, and we’ll still be able to enjoy all the fun, fast-paced card-battling action that we always have. Especially important given the recent debut of the most recent season, Masters of the Arcane.
But the new Marvel Snap web shop is where the real interest lies! Not only because this presents an all-new way to nab high-value one-time purchase bundles (their words, not ours). Or, more pertinently, it’s because there’s now an exclusive discount code, ‘WEBLAUNCH’, available for a Premium Mystery Variant and Premium Mystery Border.
Snappening
It’s not altogether surprising that Second Dinner have taken the step of self-publishing. With an all-star development team led by former game director of Hearthstone Ben Brode, and the lucrative Marvel universe to explore, ByteDance rather unceremoniously dropping them in hot water was probably enough to scare them off publishers for a while.
The new web shop, however, is another indicator of the loosening of restrictions around app stores and how many developers are embracing the desire to go directly to players. For most of us, this is good, given the lower overall prices and deals, but we’ll just have to wait and see what it means long-term.
