  • Mutazione is now available on iOS and Android proper after previously being an Apple Arcade exclusive
  • Enjoy a soap opera story that sees you exploring the hidden society of Mutazione
  • Meet an ensemble cast, experience a twisting story and relax in hidden gardens

If there’s one thing to be said about Apple Arcade, it’s that the catalogue is great. For subscribers, that’s awesome, but for those who aren’t, it can mean missing out on some amazing exclusives. Fortunately, sometimes these great releases break out onto the wider mobile platform, as is the case with Mutazione, which is now available to buy on the iOS App Store and Google Play.

The story of Mutazione is as enthralling as it is unusual, and sees you exploring the titular hidden society. 100 years prior to the events of Mutazione, a mysterious meteor called Moon Dragon struck a holiday resort, transforming the visitors and inhabitants.

But rather than being washed up or trapped here, you instead play the 15-year-old Kai as they travel to this now-hidden community to care for their ailing grandfather, Nonno. Yes, these mutants may be outwardly grotesque, but they are inwardly lovable and all interesting to meet.

Mutant madness

Mutazione will see you exploring the island while interacting with the locals and discovering an intriguing storyline where people aren’t as they seem. Nonno has plans for this community, and a strange bird-like figure keeps making appearances in Kai’s dreams. What does it all mean? You’ll have to play to find out, of course.

Aside from the point-and-click adventure fun to be had, you’ll also be able to explore the island and take some time off in hidden gardens. Customise them to your liking and experience a lush, serene soundscape in between the twisting and turning storyline.

It’s good to see Mutazione hit mobile proper after being an exclusive for so long. But if you’re looking to experience all the other great releases thus far this week, why not check out our list of the top five new mobile games to try this week with all the best launches from every genre?
