  • Fallout Shelter is turning ten years old!
  • Fans can log in for free Lunchboxes and other goodies
  • The Fallout spin-off was a surprise mobile release in 2015

It almost seems hard to believe that it’s already been a decade since Fallout Shelter graced our mobile screens. Released as a tie-in to the then-upcoming Fallout 4, Fallout Shelter was a highlight of E3 2015 (and boy, if that doesn’t date it). Now, with the mobile spin-off of the series turning ten, there’s plenty of goodies for devoted fans.

For those (somehow) not in the know, Fallout Shelter sees you take control of one of the underground fallout shelter Vaults in the series universe. Of course, most of you will know that these shelters were created by the in-universe company Vault-Tec more as complex lab experiments than real attempts to preserve humanity.

Your job is, simply, to keep the inhabitants fed, watered and happy, all while dealing with missions such as scavenging and slowly expanding the shelter. It’s an engaging combination that has kept fans of Fallout and newcomers alike invested for years.

Lunchtime!

To celebrate ten years of Fallout Shelter, Bethesda is offering 70% off Lunchbox purchases through June 17th. But fans can also log in from June 16th to the 17th for 2x Lunchboxes, x1 Pet Carrier and x10 Nuka, then check in from the 18th to the 19th for x3 Lunchboxes, x1 Mr Handy and x15 Nuka, with the giveaways culminating from June 20th to the 21st with x5 Lunchbox, x1 Pet Carrier and x20 Nuka.

For longtime fans, these’ll be welcome rewards, but as always, we’re constantly wondering what’s next for Fallout on mobile, and whether 2025 will see something new and interesting arrive.

Think that the challenge of running a Vault is peanuts after ten years? Well, if Fallout Shelter has given you a taste for management, why not check out our list of the top 25 best strategy games for iOS and Android?
