  • Fate War is IGG.com’s latest pitch into the city-builder genre
  • Develop your tribe, create your town and manage your citizenry
  • Take on tactical battles and deal with changing weather and day-night cycles

With a number of popular releases under their belt, such as Lords Mobile and Doomsday: Last Survivors, it shouldn’t be surprising that developer IGG.com is eager to make its mark with another. Fate War is set to arrive on Android and iOS sometime this year and promises to be jam-packed with trendy mechanics and features.

Fate War offers a familiar setup, as you play a Chieftain in a mythical world devastated by Ragnarok. Journeying to Sanctuary, your job is to keep your people safe and build up their stronghold, all while dealing with the ravenous Blackforged, malevolent spirits and (naturally) other tribes intent on taking what you’ve cultivated.

Despite a relatively high-level setup, Fate War promises intuitive city-building gameplay that allows you to manage your citizens’ daily lives and work. As you might expect, the seasons and dynamic environment will also play a part in leading you to victory, and the day-night cycle will be key to managing your Tribe’s development speed.

Mechanically speaking

Outside of these features, there are also plenty of considerations for player comfort, with the ability to switch easily between landscape and portrait mode. You’ll also be able to jump into tactical battles where you manage your Commanders and Lieutenants, pitting four different soldier types against one another.

There’s also a Trade and Auction system, various cosmetic items to decorate your UI and Tribe, while also having a roguelike open world where you send out expeditions to gather resources and rewards. Fate War is obviously looking to include virtually everything you would want, but whether it manages to carry it all off or just ends up unfocused remains to be seen.

But if you think that strategy and tactics are something you’d love to dive into right now, you can tide yourself over ahead of Fate War’s release with our list of the top 25 best strategy games on iOS and Android!
