Fortnite Blitz Royale Mode is a new mobile-exclusive mode for Epic’s hit shooter

With its long-anticipated return to mobile, arriving back on the App Store in the US and in the EU with the Epic Games Store, Fortnite is stepping back into prominence. And there’s little doubt about where Epic’s focus is what with the debut of the new mobile-first Blitz Royale Mode!

Blitz Royale is essentially a stripped-down, pared-back version of the classic battle royale mode for Fortnite. Matches are clocked at around five minutes, each player starts with the same medallion (called Boons) and special weapon, and a much smaller map means that as the circle narrows, you’ll be quickly forced into firefights.

Blitz will be available either as a solo player or in a squad of four, and as you might expect, the more kills you get, the further you level up and the more powerful you become. Keep your eyes peeled for Golden Chests and Supply Drops to give yourself an even greater boost.

Bringing it back to mobile

While Epic may be bringing Fortnite back to mobile in perhaps the most positive situation possible, it’s inevitable that this long absence has likely diminished it somewhat for people, especially with so many great alternatives to satiate their battle royale appetites.

So it makes sense that Blitz Royale is their pitch to players who have now enjoyed much faster-paced matches to bring them back into the Fortnite fold. And considering it comes with plenty of fantastic rewards and cosmetics to be grabbed by playing throughout June and July, I think there’s no doubt that it’ll certainly draw some returning fans in.
