Black Beacon: Everything we know about this upcoming grand epic ARPG, now in global beta test

In case you missed it, Glohow has launched the global beta test for Black Beacon, the studio’s upcoming action RPG on iOS and Android. With the brand-new year kickstarting loads of exciting quests for you to embark on, it’s worth putting this fantasy adventure on your radar too – so here’s everything you need to know before you dive right in.

The world of Black Beacon

As the Seer, your job is to lead a secret organization called Eme-an to protect humanity from unknown perils. Typical of the genre, a surprising betrayal leads to the awakening of an ancient Sun God, and what ensues is a dangerous time-travelling journey where humanity’s very existence is at stake.

Of course, spicing up the narrative-driven adventure is the colourful cast of characters you’ll encounter along the way, from the aloof guardian of the Library of Babel to the Eme-an law enforcer with unbreakable shackles of his own.

Appealing aesthetics…and all the eye candy

Adding to the mystery and wonder of this mythical world is the stunning art style that brings each character to life. What makes gacha elements compelling hinges on how cool the characters look, after all, so the fact that each one boasts its own swag and set of skills definitely adds to the appeal.

Case in point: Zero, the aforementioned Librarian who acts as a bit of the ARPG’s poster character, is a no-nonsense guardian who always appears to have her wits about her. It doesn’t seem like she’s completely devoid of emotion despite the cold exterior though, especially since she’s got an adorable avian companion named An flitting to and fro. She’s also sporting a golden flower behind her ear – a hint of softness that no doubt has a deeper backstory to be discovered as you progress through the game.

The “action” in “action RPG”

Gorgeous animated cutscenes aside, the characters shine their brightest when locked in heated battles and strategic combat. You’ll need to chain the coolest combos to take down larger-than-life foes, maximising each character’s strengths for satisfying wins. All these complement the lore of your mission to uncover the truth about the titular Beacon.

Ready to join in?

If you’re keen on getting a taste of the action yourself, Black Beacon is now open for pre-registration in select regions. This includes North America, Europe, and Asia, excluding certain specific regions. Pre-orders are now open on Google Play, but if you’re an iOS user, you’ll just have to wait a tiny bit more before pre-registration opens on the App Store. 

If you sign up on the official website, you can nab a Development Material Box x10 once the ARPG is released, while app store sign-ups will reward you with an exclusive [Zero] costume. Depending on the pre-reg milestones, Orelium x30,000, Lost Time Key x10, or even Time-Seeking Key x10 might just be up for grabs.
