With the new year now firmly upon us, many top releases are coming out of the gate swinging. Ahead of the usual glut of Chinese New Year events we’re already seeing some exciting collabs; such as today’s subject, as Guardian Tales brings the world of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End to Kakao Games’ top dungeon crawler, starting now!
But what’s Frieren all about? Well, as you might expect from the title this fantasy series explores the aftermath of a world where the chosen hero Himmel is long since dead, told through the eyes of his immortal elf companion Frieren. Accompanied by new companions Stark and Fern, Frieren sets out to explore the world, and perhaps reunite with Himmel one last time.
So if you’re a fan of this fantastical, if melancholy, series then you’ll be excited to learn that Stark, Fern and Frieren herself will all be joining Guardian Tales as playable heroes! Trapped in the world of the guardians, they’ll need the help of the rest of this game’s wide cast to return home.
Roll on the loot table
When the event starts (as of today) each of these upcoming heroes will debut with their own distinctive weapons; Stark being available as part of the event rewards, with the opportunity to rank him up to five stars and limit break him too. Meanwhile, Fern will debut between January 21st and February 4th, preceded by Frieren herself who’s already available until February 4th too.
Not only will January be packed with reward-filled events, but you can also nab yourself a free Limit Breaking Hammer as part of the collaboration event, boosting the power of your characters and their weapons.
